Memorial Day weekend ribs coming along n

Whether you knew Ted Fitzmier through serving in the Military with him, from his helpful and humorous nature while working at Pride Ag Resources Ace Hardware in Maize, KS or if you were lucky enough to have gotten to bite into one of his fantastic ribs, you knew you were with some one special. Ted truly loved his country, his family and friends and to cook ribs. That love for ribs is exactly why his family has chosen them for the meat for our Memorial Cook Off.

Although Ted sadly did not get to live out his dream and desire of getting to be a part of the Kansas Honor Flight, his family and loved ones have chosen this great organization as a way to commemorate Ted, and all Veterans, by organizing this great fundraising event, the Ted Fitzmier Memorial Rib Cook Off.

The Kansas Honor Flight formed in 2012. This 501 (c) 3 non-profit is governed by a 7 member board of directors.  Through the end of 2017, over 1,700 Kansas veterans who served our country during the WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War eras have been provided this memorable trip to visit their Memorials in Washington, D.C. Flights occur in April, May, June, September, October, and November.

Events such as this help provide the funds to provide this trip which is free to qualified veterans. No funding is received from federal, state, or local governments. Additionally, there are no paid employees, offices, vehicles, office equipment, etc. All arrangements and flight leaders are volunteers as well as all fund raising events across the state.
